Mr Fantasy, Creative Portrait Shoot in Byron Bay, Australia

This shoot with Mr Fantasy came together pretty last minute.

I got a message on Instagram from Johnny saying they were coming through the Byron Shire from LA to film a video clip and needed a few photos while they were here. The timing was a bit unclear at first, and I honestly wasn’t sure if I wanted to take it on.

But I said yes in the end and I’m glad I did.

Mr Fantasi is an emerging artist building a strong visual identity around his character. The shoot was connected to his single One Last Night, and the idea we explored was loosely inspired by an Adam and Eve–style concept.

We shot everything out in the bush around Brunswick Heads, keeping things simple and natural. It was a quick session, around 20 minutes, just working with what was there and not overcomplicating anything.

They just needed a few stills while they were here, so we kept it relaxed and focused.

The whole thing had a really fun, easy energy. Nothing too structured just responding to the character, the environment, and letting moments happen naturally.

After sharing some of the images, people were asking questions about the project, which says a lot about that space between character and reality.

Some of the photos ended up being used across Spotify and other promotional materials, which was a nice outcome considering how spontaneous the whole shoot was.

It was also a good reminder that sometimes the jobs you’re unsure about, or that come in last minute, end up being the most rewarding.

I always enjoy working on projects like this, simple setups, strong character, and room to experiment without overthinking everything.
